

Should he need any assistance from the other Gods and Goddesses he has a horn named Gjallarhorn “the yelling horn” or “the loud sounding horn”. When Heimdall stands guard at the rainbow bridge he has his trustworthy sword at his side “Hofund” to protect him from any unwelcome guests. Heimdall is also known to have wandered among mankind and for that reason he has many names associated with him, and he is also referred to as Rig, Hallinskiði, Gullintanni, and Vindlér or Vindhlér.

Heimdall lives next to Bifrost in a place called Himinbjörg, when he is not busy protecting Bifrost from enemies he is able to ride around on his horse which name is Gulltopp, “Gold top” this is a very special horse and one of a kind because it is made of gold. He also possesses superhuman hearing abilities and can hear the wool grow on the back of a sheep. Heimdall does not need much sleep, in fact, he sleeps less than a bird and he also has keen eyesight and he can see equally, good night or day for hundreds of kilometers, in fact, his sight is so good that he can even see the grass grow. Heimdall has been described as being “the whitest of the Gods” or “the bright” and he has some truly amazing abilities that make him the obvious candidate to stand guard at the rainbow bridge Bifrost. Heimdall is the son of Odin the all-father, Heimdall most have had a bizarre birth because he has nine mothers, and they are all sisters and these sisters are associated with the nine waves. Heimdall is the guardian of the rainbow bridge Bifrost which is the only way into Asgard (the home of the Gods) and connecting it with Midgard (the home of man) in Norse mythology. Heimdall (old Norse “Heimdallr”) is a tall and handsome man with teeth made of gold, for this reason, Heimdall has gotten the nickname “Gold Tooth”.
